Microsoft stated in 2020 that it will rename its Office 365 subscription to Microsoft 365, recognizing that it has evolved into more than just a work software. According to a fresh fill in identified by a credible source, it is now eliminating the majority of the remaining Office branding. As per an FAQ, “In the coming months,, the Office mobile app, and the Office app for Windows will become the Microsoft 365 app, with a new icon, a new look, and even more features,”

Microsoft’s Word, Excel, and other products are now available online at, but that will soon be changed to, with a new six-sided logo replacing the present square one. The changes will take effect next month, with the Office software for Windows, MacOS, iOS, and Android rebranding in January.

You’ll still be utilizing Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, Clipchamp, Stream, and Designer, so the app titles won’t change. A Microsoft 365 app for mobile and desktop will also be available, serving as a consolidated center for information, displaying meetings, files, papers, and more.

The Office brand will continue to be used for one-time purchases through Office 2021 and Office LTSC, which provides apps through bulk licensing. According to the source, it’s now considered a legacy brand, so any new features will be for Microsoft 365 rather than Office. Microsoft also stated that “there are no changes to Office 365 subscription plans.”
