A report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggests that Apple Vision Pro may be added to the list of devices receiving Apple Intelligence features. The Cupertino-based tech company debuted a multitude of new artificial intelligence (AI) technologies at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024, including Genmoji, Writing Tools, Siri with AI capabilities, and more. These features were initially introduced to iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. It is now reported that Vision Pro will also have these AI features. However, it is anticipated that these features will not be available this year.

The report, cites people familiar with the matter, suggesting that these features are still in the early stages of development. However, it remains uncertain whether the AI features will be released early next year or if users will need to wait until the launch of visionOS 3 in the fall of 2025. Gurman underscores that the incorporation of Apple Intelligence into the Vision Pro should not be overly challenging, given the device’s 16GB of unified RAM, which he asserts is “ample” for running AI tasks. The M2 chipset used in the headset is also expected to prevent processor-related issues. Moreover, the report indicates that visionOS is derived from iPadOS, making the integration of AI features less complex.

Integrating AI features into the Apple Vision Pro would also represent a functional upgrade. Apple describes the mixed-reality headset as a device optimized for computing tasks, and enhancements like notification prioritization, Writing Tools, and a more capable Siri will only broaden its capabilities and appeal. One reason for delaying the introduction of AI features to Vision Pro could be to avoid overburdening its newly announced Private Cloud Compute servers. The company is reportedly in the process of scaling up its cloud infrastructure, and expanding it too quickly to multiple products could potentially affect latency or efficiency in delivering the features.

As anticipation builds for the arrival of Apple Intelligence on the Vision Pro, tech enthusiasts, and consumers alike eagerly await how these cutting-edge AI features will redefine the mixed-reality experience. Stay tuned as Apple prepares to unveil the future of immersive technology with the Vision Pro, promising a blend of sophistication and utility that promises to set new benchmarks in the industry.
