Developers that allow users to establish accounts in their iOS, iPadOS, and macOS apps will soon be required to include a mechanism for users to delete their accounts. According to Apple, all app submissions (including updates) must contain the option by January 31st.
At the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference in June, the firm revealed this requirement, along with other App Store policy changes, as part of an effort to offer consumers greater control over their data. Apple only requires developers to allow users to ” initiate deletion of their account from within the app,” apps may direct you to a website or even a conversation with an agent before you can cancel your account.
It remains to be seen how helpful this criterion will be in reality, considering the gimmicks many developers use to keep you as a user. Still, if you have an account in an app, removing it will be a little easier, which can’t be a terrible thing. This should make it easy for users to cancel subscriptions and applications they aren’t using.A Report a Problem option is now available on iOS 15, iPadOS 15, and macOS Monterey (which is currently in beta) Program Store pages, allowing you to report any issues or concerns you have with an app to Apple. For the time being, the functionality is only available in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United States. Later, Apple will expand the button’s availability to more regions.
