Wyze is introducing a new subscription tier for everyone. Cam Plus Lite provides AI-powered Person Detection (rather than motion detection) and 12-second event records. The trick is that it’s a pay-what-you-want plan, which means you won’t have to pay a monthly or yearly price to use those features.
The current Cam Plus subscription is $2 per month or $15 per year. It allows you to record many events at the same time (instead of one every five minutes). Full-length video recording for as long as motion is detected, as well as package, car, and pet recognition, are among the other features.
Until recently, Wyze cameras took 12-second footage as frequently as every five minutes when an incident was detected, and those recordings were saved for up to 14 days. Wyze is including that functionality into its subscriptions; but, to continue using cloud recordings, you must subscribe to the Cam Plus or Cam Plus Lite plan.
Wyze claims it’s combining cloud recordings with the AI-powered Person Detection function in the Cam Plus Lite plan to make them more helpful and reduce the number of alerts generated by, for example, a film of a bug flying in front of the camera. Although the firm feels that this method would improve the overall experience, it has said that it will incur large cloud costs as a result. As a result, while it will not charge customers for those features, it hopes that they will donate as much as they can to meet the expenses for everyone.If you do not enable Cam Plus Lite, your cameras will save thumbnails of what they detect instead of video. Cam Plus Lite will still be available for purchase at any time.
