WhatsApp for Android is rolling out yet another update to the Meta AI chatbot. WABetaInfo, a WhatsApp feature tracker, reports that the new functionality is aimed at making the chatbot more personalized.
The upcoming chat memory feature will retain key information about each user. This will enable the AI chatbot to provide relevant responses in future exchanges. Birthdays, hobbies, and even particular tastes like the style of conversation will all be automatically recorded by the Meta AI chatbot. Additionally, the AI will also be able to recall preferences for podcasts, movies, books, and even allergies.
“By storing this type of information, Meta AI can offer recommendations, advice, or responses that are more aligned with the user preferences and lifestyle. For example, if the user asks for food recommendations, Meta AI will avoid suggesting dishes that the user has previously indicated they dislike or are allergic to,” reads the WABetaInfo article.
This upcoming feature was spotted in the WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.24.22.9. It is however not available to beta testers. WABetaInfo also included screenshots showcasing that the Memory option will be added to MetaAI’s profile page. Users can access it by touching the MetaAI title within the chat interface.
Users can view this new option, “What Meta AI remembers about you,” once they are on the profile page. This menu option can be accessed by users and every time a piece of data is saved, it will show up there.
The report highlights that users would have ultimate control over the data that Meta AI retains. With the “remember this” function, users can manually save details and modify or delete them whenever they like.
According to WABetaInfo, this chat memory feature will serve to significantly enhance the personalization capabilities of Meta AI, turning it into a “personal assistant.”
