Interacting with Meta AI just got easier! As of now, texts and images are the only two ways you can converse with the AI. However, WaBetaInfo has shared the news that WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature that lets users send voice messages to Meta AI.
“It seems that WhatsApp is now dedicated to introducing additional features for Meta AI, with the aim to enhance interactions with the chatbot. Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.16.10 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is rolling out a feature to share voice messages with Meta AI!” WABetaInfo reports.
Once the feature rolls out, users who have signed up for the Google Play Beta program can access the chat and see a new voice message indicator. An early glance at what it might look like can be seen in a screenshot shared by WaBetaInfo. It shows a voice message button that appears directly in the WhatsApp Meta AI chat interface, much like how it does in a regular WhatsApp chat.
Thanks to Meta AI’s cutting-edge voice recognition technology, the AI will be able to process the audio and decode the query. After that, a text response will be generated.
With this version, voice commands can be used by users to interact with Meta AI, facilitating a more rapid and natural exchange of information. This new feature is especially helpful for people who need to ask questions or relay information while they’re on the go.
The AI will ask users to record their message a second time if it detects background noise or low recording quality that could cause the audio to become unclear. This method of maintaining efficient and clear communication improves the user experience as a whole.
It’s interesting to note that although Meta AI has always been multimodal and capable of generating (and maybe even editing) AI images, audio processing or generation has not been included. This upgrade could finally bring about a change on that front as well.
