For months, everyone has been hearing indications about Elon Musk’s new AI endeavor, xAI, and now it appears that it’s almost here. The Tesla CEO and well-known social media genius just announced on Twitter/X that his AI venture would introduce its first model tomorrow, November 4.
This is a beta phase in the sense that it is being provided exclusively to a “select group”, however Musk did not clarify what criteria were used in the selection process.
“The goal of xAI is to understand the true nature of the universe,” the website states. Elon Musk leads the team, which includes personnel who had previously worked at OpenAI, Google Research, Microsoft Research, and DeepMind (which was recently absorbed into Google).
Musk is making bold claims about his artificial intelligence, claiming that “in some important respects, it is the best that currently exists.” It’ll be competing with big-name products from OpenAI, Google, Meta, and a slew of others.
