If you’re an iOS 16.4.1, iPad OS 16.4.1, or macOS 13.3.1 user, you can now access the latest Rapid Security Response update. This update is focused on improving the security of Apple devices, mitigating vulnerabilities, and addressing bugs, while we await significant updates.
According to Apple’s support page, these updates provide substantial security enhancements to simplify the user experience of Apple devices, while preparing for major OS updates, such as iOS 17, which will be released next month.
The primary objective of the RSR update is to enhance the security of native iOS apps like Safari, elevate the WebKit framework stack, and upgrade crucial system libraries. Your device will receive the update automatically, and in some instances, a restart may be required. Once the update has been installed successfully, a letter will appear after the software version to signify this, and in this case, the letter “a” will appear as this is the first update.
Shortly after the release of the Rapid Security Response update, several iPhone users expressed their frustration on social media when the update appeared to have failed to install on their devices.
After the release of the bite-sized RSR update, which was 85MB in size, iPhone users were greeted with an error message that read “Unable to Verify Security Response.”
Fortunately, the issue was resolved automatically after a short while, and all eligible iPhone users were able to download and install the update without any difficulty.
