
The first beta version of Apple iOS 18.3 has been released, bringing along a host of new AI features, updates, and crucial bug fixes.
Apple Intelligence, initially anticipated to debut in the iOS 18.1 or 18.2 updates, still has some key features yet to be launched. Reports suggest that Apple plans to introduce several of these AI capabilities in the upcoming iOS 18.3 update.
The newly launched iOS 18.3 Beta 1 showcases the following features:
- Image Playground
One of the standout features of Apple Intelligence, which was announced during WWDC 24, is the ability to generate images from sketches in Image Playground. This functionality is now available in Apple iOS 18.3 Beta 1, allowing users to effortlessly transform simple drawings into polished images. The Image Playground is integrated into native apps like Messages, Freeform, and Keynote, and it can also be accessed as a standalone application.
- Siri
With iOS 18, Apple has revamped the interface for its digital assistant, Siri, on the iPhone. Siri can now send user requests to OpenAI’s ChatGPT AI chatbot when necessary. Apple has confirmed that Siri will continue to evolve and become more intelligent with future updates. Features such as enhanced app control, improved personal context understanding, and on-screen awareness are expected to roll out to compatible iPhone models with the iOS 18.4 update in April.
- Priority Notifications
Apple Intelligence has already enabled the Notification Summary feature on iPhones. Future updates will enhance this by allowing notifications that need immediate attention to be grouped together, further streamlining notification management on iPhones.
- Genmoji
The Genmoji tool, enhanced by Apple Intelligence, lets users craft custom emojis. Now, with the release of Apple iOS 18.3 Beta 1, you now have the option to select your skin tone while making a new emoji. tone while making a new emoji.
