Cheating is an issue in mobile games just as it is everywhere, and Krafton is taking extra precautions to catch the biggest offenders. According to reports, the company is now permanently banning the devices of cheaters in Battlegrounds Mobile India (aka the local version of PUBG Mobile). Rogue gamers can’t just make new accounts to keep wrecking your matches – they’d have to buy a new phone or tablet.
A device ban is not a fresh concept. Call of Duty: Warzone and Valorant are two examples of games that commonly block hardware. However, it is less frequent on mobile, and Battlegrounds Mobile India is a particularly famous example, with over 16 million people playing every day.
Device bans will not put an end to cheating in the battle royale brawler overnight. While device bans necessitate greater work, particularly on mobile, they are not impossible to avoid. However, Krafton’s efforts may prevent many ‘casual’ cheats, which may be enough to attract (or maintain) honest gamers who have been put off by previous misbehavior.
