Anthropic is introducing a powerful new “coding” experience in Claude, turning chat-based interactions into a full-fledged app development platform, all without writing a single line of code.
In a new blog post, Anthropic details how its expanded Artifacts feature now allows users to build, host, and share interactive AI‑powered apps directly within the Claude interface. Once enabled, this capability lets Claude generate real React-based interfaces that users can test in real time, modify via conversation, and instantly publish with a shareable link—no APIs or infrastructure to manage.
A key benefit lies in Anthropic’s billing model: when someone uses your Claude-built app, their API usage is charged to their own Claude subscription, not yours. This removes the major barrier of unexpected billing for hobbyists and educators experimenting with AI tools.
The features are rolling out in beta now for all users, including Free, Pro, and Max tiers. Early adopters have already created a range of innovative tools, including text‑based games, personal tutoring assistants, data‑analysis dashboards, and multi‑step agent workflows.
Anthropic reports that since launching the original Artifacts last June, millions of users have generated over 500 million artifacts, and now, with AI embedded directly into these creations, they can adapt dynamically based on user input.
That said, some limitations remain: external API calls and persistent storage aren’t yet supported, and functionality is currently limited to text‑based outputs. Despite this, Anthropic positions the upgrade as a watershed moment in making AI development accessible to non‑coders, educators, small businesses, and creators.
In sum, Claude’s new interactive artifacts bring “vibe‑coding” to the mainstream, enabling anyone to prototype, publish, and share AI‑driven apps without developer overhead. It’s a bold step toward turning conversational AI into a true AI‑first app ecosystem.
