
Worldwide YouTube viewers may begin to see more videos with audio in their local language. The video-hosting service has introduced a new tool that allows artists to add voice tracks to new and current material in several languages. During the last year, YouTube has been testing multi-language dubs with a small number of producers, but it is now expanding the feature’s reach and making it available to thousands more.
The new function is offered on the website as a tool that producers may utilize to expand their global audiences. Last month, early testers reportedly contributed 3,500 videos in over 40 languages, and users watched over 2 million hours of dubbed video per day. The creators who tested the service also discovered that viewers watching their movies in another language accounted for around 15% of their total viewing time.
When customers initially select their favorite language, the website will use it as the default whenever they watch movies with dubs. Users will also be able to search for content dubbed in their language through translated titles and descriptions, even if the video’s primary language is different. YouTube did not specify how it selected the thousands of producers who will have access to the feature today, but we asked the website how it plans to roll out multi-language dubs until it is available to everyone.
