Jeff Bezos Seems to Be Concerned About Elon Musk’s Twitter Buyout

While Twitter just shook hands with Elon Musk’s $44 billion buyout, fellow tech billionaire Jeff Bezos seems to have a question, or a remark, or maybe even a troll. We’re not sure how to shoot it off at the right angle. The light of the fact is Bezos’ tweet, “Interesting question. Did the Chinese government just gain a bit of leverage over the town square?”, came from quoting a New York Times reporter’s tweet. It seems to point out that Tesla’s commercial connections in China might give the Chinese government control over Twitter via its new owner.

According to reports, Elon’s purchase should go through without any regulatory hiccup. Although the possibility of the foreign influence that comes with this acquisition might not be something that everyone will bat an eye about. It could also be one of those scenarios where millionaires joke and poke at each other on social media. And the other possibility could be that Twitter’s unencrypted DMs might have made Jeff concerned (like many of us) as to who will gain access to it in the coming months.

Or it was just that Bezos went a little overboard in his first tweet, ‘cause he followed it up with two more around sometime later – “My own answer to this question is probably not. The more likely outcome in this regard is complexity in China for Tesla, rather than censorship at Twitter”, and that “Musk is extremely good at navigating this kind of complexity.”

Confused enough, right? That’s why we said earlier that we are not sure where to put it since every angle makes sense.
