To make it easier for users to find older messages within their chats, WhatsApp has introduced an innovative feature called “Search by Date.” All users will now be able to take advantage of this feature as it has already completed beta testing. Mark Zuckerberg shared a video on his official WhatsApp channel demonstrating the newly introduced search-by-date feature. He demonstrated in a video how he might locate a previous chat by only choosing a specific date. This can help users to put an end to the endless scrolling. This feature allows users to search their chats from the conversation detail page by different media types, such as links, media files, and documents.
Users can access the ‘ search by date’ feature by opening a personal or group chat, tapping the three dots in the upper right corner, and choosing “Search.” Then, by selecting a date, users can find any pertinent conversations, links, media, or documents via a new calendar icon that appears on the right side. If users can recall the date of the chat, it becomes easier for them to get the exact information or confirmations they may be looking for quickly.
This “search by date” tool, like other recent enhancements like text formatting options, intends to help users save valuable time. This feature can now be accessed on WhatsApp Web, iOS, Mac, and Android devices. This feature is quite helpful for users who frequently have trouble remembering exact words but can recollect the approximate time of the conversation. This addition reflects WhatsApp’s commitment to continuously improving its platform and addressing user needs.
