Claude 3.5 Sonnet, the first member of the Claude 3.5 large language model (LLM) family, is the most recent release by Anthropic. According to Anthropic, its latest product performs better than industry competitors like OpenAI’s GPT-4o, Google’s Gemini-1.5 Pro, Meta’s Llama-400b, and even the company’s in-house models, Claude 3 Haiku and Claude 3 Opus.

The Claude 3.5 Sonnet costs $3 per million input tokens and $15 per million output tokens, and it comes with a 200,000-token context window. The Claude 3.5 Sonnet, according to Anthropic, is capable of writing, editing, and running code completely independently. It can also carry out complicated tasks like code translation thanks to its reasoning and troubleshooting abilities.

In addition to the coding and text-based enhancements, the new AI model gains enhanced computer vision. The Claude 3.5 Sonnet, according to the AI company, can transcribe text from blurry photos, graphics, or illustrations.

Anthropic has also launched a brand-new feature named Artifacts. You can now see and interact with the final results of your Claude requests with Artifacts. For example, if you ask the model to design something, it can now show you what it looks like and allow you to edit it directly within the app.

Right now, the Claude iOS app and Claude.ai are both offering Claude 3.5 Sonnet for free. Higher rate limits are available to Claude Pro and Claude Team plan subscribers as well. Additionally, it can be accessed through Google Cloud’s Vertex AI, Amazon Bedrock, and Anthropic API.

All in all, Claude 3.5 Sonnet operates at twice the speed of its predecessor, Claude 3 Opus, indicating a notable performance boost. Anthropic’s official statement states that this advancement, along with a more affordable pricing structure, establishes Claude 3.5 Sonnet as the most suitable option for complex assignments, such as handling multi-step workflows and providing context-aware customer support.
